Riverside's Thornton & King's Harris Named MCC Student-Athletes of the Week (May 28)
Duane Thornton (Riverside Univ. High School) and Kaiden Harris (Rufus King High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of May 18-24.
Both Thornton and Harris competed at the MCC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past Friday, each one earning multiple first-place finishes in their events. Thornton won both the 110M and 300M hurdles, coming in 0.96 seconds ahead of his competition in the latter. The sophomore finished off a successful meet with another first-place finish in the 4x100M team relay.
Harris also collected her share of trophies, as she placed first in the 100M dash when she managed to slip past Rufus King teammate Lanee Johnson by 0.24 seconds. Johnson and Harris later teamed up to grab the 4x100M title, with Harris running the second leg of the race. Harris capped the meet with a third-place finish in the 100M hurdles.
