Reagan’s Nelson and Riverside’s John Named MCC Student-Athletes of the Week (April 13)
Zaida Nelson (Reagan High School) and Kwame John (Riverside Univ. High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 5-11.
Nelson was on fire for the Huskies, contributing big to help the team go 3-0 on the week. The junior had an undeniable presence at the plate, finishing with a .778 batting average and seven total hits, including two doubles and a home run. She also drove in six of her team’s runs, proving to be a key offensive weapon in Reagan’s dominant wins over Riverside and Wauwatosa East.
Kwame John had a standout week of his own at the MCC Indoor Championship meet, bringing home multiple top finishes for Riverside’s boys track & field team. The junior won both the 200-meter and 400-meter races before joining his teammates in a second-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay. John’s efforts were critical in Riverside securing a second-place finish overall.
